Si bien est\u00e1n presentes en gran cantidad alrededor y dentro de muchas galaxias, los ejemplares reci\u00e9n nacidos son extremadamente raros y las condiciones necesarias para su aparici\u00f3n no hab\u00edan sido detectadas hasta ahora.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" id=\"irc_mi\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/cosmic-dawn\/images\/MM8208_121210-032694.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Usando el Atacama Large Millimeter\/submillimeter Array (ALMA), en Chile, un grupo de astr\u00f3nomos descubri\u00f3 lo que podr\u00eda ser el primer c\u00famulo globular a punto de nacer que se conozca: una nube de gas molecular incre\u00edblemente masiva y densa pero a\u00fan sin estrellas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Podemos estar en presencia de uno de los m\u00e1s antiguos y extremos modos de formaci\u00f3n estelar en el Universo&#8221;, dijo el astr\u00f3nomo Kelsey Johnson, de la Universidad de Virginia en Charlottesville y autor principal de un art\u00edculo que ser\u00e1 publicado en el Astrophysical Journal. &#8220;Este interesante objeto parece arrancado directamente del Universo temprano&#8221;, agrega Johnson, &#8220;descubrir un objeto que tiene todas las caracter\u00edsticas de un c\u00famulo globular, pero que a\u00fan no haya comenzado a formar estrellas, es como encontrar un huevo de dinosaurio a punto de eclosionar&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Este objeto, al que el astr\u00f3nomo se refiere ir\u00f3nicamente como el Petardo, se encuentra a aproximadamente 50 millones de a\u00f1os luz, al interior de una famosa dupla de galaxias en colisi\u00f3n (NGC 4038 y NGC 4039) conocidas como las galaxias Antena. Las fuerzas gravitacionales generadas por el proceso de fusi\u00f3n entre ambas est\u00e1n desencadenando una cantidad colosal de formaciones estelares, gran parte de ellas al interior de densos c\u00famulos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" id=\"irc_mi\" src=\"http:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/image\/0606\/NGC4038_4039_verschatse_c52.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pero lo que hace \u00fanico al Petardo es su enorme masa concentrada en un espacio relativamente peque\u00f1o y sin la presencia de estrellas en \u00e9l. Todos los c\u00famulos similares observados anteriormente por los astr\u00f3nomos est\u00e1n repletos de estrellas. El calor y la radiaci\u00f3n de esas estrellas han alterado considerablemente el ambiente circundante, borrando cualquier evidencia de sus fr\u00edos y tranquilos inicios.<\/p>\n<p>Gracias a ALMA, los astr\u00f3nomos pudieron encontrar y estudiar detalladamente un ejemplo pr\u00edstino de un c\u00famulo en su estado original, antes que las estrellas cambien para siempre sus caracter\u00edsticas \u00fanicas. Y para entender la formaci\u00f3n de un c\u00famulo globular necesitas ver su verdadero origen&#8221;, agreg\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" id=\"irc_mi\" src=\"http:\/\/bitacoradegalileo.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/01\/star_cluster_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La mayor\u00eda de los c\u00famulos globulares se formaron durante un \u2018baby boom\u2019 ocurrido hace aproximadamente 12 mil millones de a\u00f1os, en los inicios de las galaxias. Cada una contiene densas agrupaciones de hasta un mill\u00f3n de estrellas de segunda generaci\u00f3n, estrellas con concentraciones de metales pesados notoriamente bajas, lo que indica que se formaron muy temprano en la historia del Universo. Nuestra propia V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea es conocida por contener al menos unos 150 c\u00famulos de estas caracter\u00edsticas, aunque podr\u00eda contener muchos m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A trav\u00e9s del Universo se siguen formando c\u00famulos de estrellas de diferentes tama\u00f1os. Es posible, aunque muy improbable, que los m\u00e1s grandes y densos terminan transform\u00e1ndose en c\u00famulos globulares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\"
