Esta instalada en el telescopio <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iac.es\/eno.php?op1=2&amp;op2=3&amp;id=13\" target=\"_blank\">William Herschel,<\/a> de espejo principal de 4,2 metros de di\u00e1metro, del <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iac.es\/eno.php?op1=2&amp;op2=3&amp;id=13\" target=\"_blank\">Observatorio de El Roque de los Muchachos<\/a>, en Canarias, y podr\u00eda proporcionar informaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica significativa a partir del a\u00f1o que viene, cuando empiecen las observaciones sistem\u00e1ticas de millones de galaxias lejanas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/acegif.com\/wp-content\/gif\/outerspace-58.gif\" alt=\"Hermosos GIFs del espacio y el universo - 100 im\u00e1genes animadas\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La PAU (siglas en ingl\u00e9s de F\u00edsica del Universo Acelerado), a partir de ahora, \u201ccompite y colabora\u201d, como dice el coordinador del proyecto Enrique Fern\u00e1ndez, con media docena de instrumentos cient\u00edficos en el mundo espec\u00edficos para intentar averiguar qu\u00e9 es la energ\u00eda oscura. \u201cCada t\u00e9cnica de observaci\u00f3n te aporta parte de la informaci\u00f3n y cuando combinas la informaci\u00f3n ves que todo cuadra\u201d, se\u00f1ala Fern\u00e1ndez, catedr\u00e1tico de la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uab.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\">Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Barcelona (UAB)<\/a> e investigador del <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifae.es\/eng\/\" target=\"_blank\">IFAE (Instituto de F\u00edsica de Altas Energ\u00edas).<\/a> As\u00ed que toca competir para ser los primeros en descubrir algo y colaborar a la vez para avanzar en este intrincado problema cient\u00edfico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u201cLa primera luz ha ido muy bien, hemos tenido cinco noches de observaci\u00f3n y ya hemos hecho la puesta a punto de la c\u00e1mara; en septiembre u octubre tendremos cinco noches m\u00e1s del telescopio para tomar datos\u201d, explica Fern\u00e1ndez a EL PA\u00cdS. \u201cLuego, hemos solicitado un centenar de noches en 2016 y 2017 y despu\u00e9s del primer a\u00f1o esperamos tener ya resultados relevantes\u201d. las cosas con observaciones y experimentos. Lo que ya se sabe es que la energ\u00eda oscura supone el 68,3% del universo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La c\u00e1mara PAU va a medir la distancia a muchas galaxias determinando el llamado corrimiento al rojo de cada una. Al expandirse el universo, la luz que emiten las galaxias llega a la Tierra desplazada a longitudes de onda mayores que en las que se emiti\u00f3, es decir, se desplaza hacia la parte roja del espectro electromagn\u00e9tico. \u201cEs el equivalente del cambio de tono de la sirena de una ambulancia cuando se aleja de nosotros\u201d, explican los cient\u00edficos de la colaboraci\u00f3n PAU. \u201cEl corrimiento al rojo se mide con t\u00e9cnicas fotom\u00e9tricas, donde se fotograf\u00eda el mismo objeto celeste m\u00faltiples veces a trav\u00e9s de filtros de diferentes colores\u201d, contin\u00faan. \u201cEl innovador dise\u00f1o de la PAU-cam incorpora 40 filtros, mientras que habitualmente son media docena, lo cual permite una precisi\u00f3n sin precedentes en la medida del corrimiento al rojo\u201d, y de ah\u00ed la distancia a las galaxias.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cLa c\u00e1mara permite hacer estudios amplio y precisos de la expansi\u00f3n del universo\u201d, se\u00f1ala Crist\u00f3bal Padilla, investigador del IFAE. \u201cGracias a los 40 filtros incorporados y su gran campo de visi\u00f3n, la c\u00e1mara puede conseguir en una sola noche de observaci\u00f3n los espectros de luz, de baja resoluci\u00f3n, de unos 50.000 objetos celestes de forma simult\u00e1nea. La PAUcam es pionera en algunos aspectos, tanto en t\u00e9cnicas de observaci\u00f3n como en temas puramente tecnol\u00f3gicos\u201d, afirma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cPara investigar la energ\u00eda oscura se necesita cubrir mucho volumen, para lo cual se requieren c\u00e1maras de gran campo que cubran una gran \u00e1rea en el cielo y que est\u00e9n instaladas en telescopios con gran poder colector para ir profundo y poder observar a alto corrimiento al rojo (a distancias lejanas)\u201d, explica Francisco Javier Cantander, investigador del <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ice.csic.es\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instituto de Ciencias del Espacio (ICE-C<a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('unidades del si',event); return false;\">SI<\/a>C\/IEEC)<\/a> a EL PAIS por correo electr\u00f3nico desde Lausana (Suiza). All\u00ed participa en una reuni\u00f3n de la futura misi\u00f3n <a href=\"http:\/\/sci.esa.int\/euclid\/\" target=\"_blank\">Euclid<\/a>, de la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esa.int\/ESA\" target=\"_blank\">Agencia Europea del Espacio (ESA),<\/a> precisamente dedicada a explorar la energ\u00eda oscura y podr\u00eda aprovechar la experiencia de la PAUcam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No es este proyecto espa\u00f1ol el \u00fanico dise\u00f1ado para afrontar experimentalmente este gran y dif\u00edcil reto de la cosmolog\u00eda del siglo XXI. Castander cita hasta siete c\u00e1maras m\u00e1s instaladas ya en observatorios en Chile, Hawai y Arizona (EEUU). Y otras est\u00e1n en preparaci\u00f3n. \u201cPero ninguna de ellas dispone de un sistema de filtros como el de la PAUcam, que permite obtener corrimientos al rojo fotom\u00e9tricos precisos\u201d, puntualiza Castander. Incluso en una de ellas, la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.darkenergysurvey.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">DECcam<\/a> estadounidense, que lleva ya dos a\u00f1os tomando datos, la aportaci\u00f3n del equipo espa\u00f1ol de PAU ha sido notable: toda la electr\u00f3nica del instrumento, apunta Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La c\u00e1mara espa\u00f1ola va a permitir medir la
