La galaxia reci\u00e9n descubierta, apodada CR7, es tres veces m\u00e1s brillante que la galaxia distante m\u00e1s brillante conocida hasta ahora. El apodo de CR7 es la abreviatura de COSMOS Redshift 7, una medida de su ubicaci\u00f3n en t\u00e9rminos de tiempo c\u00f3smico. El equipo descubri\u00f3 \u2014 y confirm\u00f3 \u2014 una serie de galaxias muy j\u00f3venes asombrosamente brillantes. Una de ellas, bautizada como CR7, era un objeto excepcionalmente raro, sin duda la galaxia m\u00e1s brillante nunca observada en esa etapa en el universo. Con el descubrimiento de CR7 y de otras galaxias brillantes, el estudio ya supon\u00eda un \u00e9xito, pero una nueva revisi\u00f3n proporcion\u00f3 m\u00e1s noticias emocionantes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/b\/b1\/Observing_Platform_VLT.jpg\" alt=\"Observing Platform VLT.jpg\" width=\"820\" height=\"577\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El VLT se encuentra en el Observatorio OParanal sobre el centro Paranal en la ciudad de Taltal, una monta\u00f1a de 2.635 metros localizada en el desierto de Atacama, al norte de Chile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los instrumentos X-shooter y <a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('unidades del si',event); return false;\">SI<\/a>NFONI, instalados en el VLT, descubrieron en CR7 una potente emisi\u00f3n de helio ionizado pero \u2014 crucial y sorprendentemente \u2014 ninguna se\u00f1al de elementos m\u00e1s pesados en una brillante zona de la galaxia. Esto signific\u00f3 que el equipo hab\u00eda descubierto la primera evidencia v\u00e1lida de la existencia de c\u00famulos de estrellas de poblaci\u00f3n III que hab\u00edan ionizado el gas dentro de una galaxia en el universo temprano.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;El descubrimiento desafiaba nuestras expectativas desde el principio&#8221;, afirma David Sobral, &#8220;ya que no esper\u00e1bamos encontrar una galaxia tan brillante. Entonces, al descubrir la naturaleza de CR7 paso a paso, comprendimos que no s\u00f3lo hab\u00edamos descubierto la galaxia lejana m\u00e1s luminosa, sino que tambi\u00e9n nos dimos cuenta de que cumpl\u00eda todas y cada una de las caracter\u00edsticas esperadas de estrellas de poblaci\u00f3n III. Esas estrellas fueron las que formaron los primeros \u00e1tomos pesados que, en \u00faltima instancia, nos ha permitido estar aqu\u00ed. Lo que el equipo observ\u00f3 de forma directa fue la \u00faltima oleada de estrellas de poblaci\u00f3n III, sugiriendo que tales estrellas deben ser m\u00e1s f\u00e1ciles de encontrar de lo que se pensaba previamente: residen entre estrellas normales, en las galaxias m\u00e1s brillantes, no s\u00f3lo en las galaxias m\u00e1s tempranas, m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as y m\u00e1s tenues, que son tan d\u00e9biles que son extremadamente dif\u00edciles de estudiar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jorryt Matthee, segundo autor del art\u00edculo, concluy\u00f3: &#8220;siempre me he preguntado de d\u00f3nde venimos. Incluso siendo ni\u00f1o quer\u00eda saber de d\u00f3nde provienen los elementos: el calcio de mis huesos, el carbono de mis m\u00fasculos, el hierro de mi sangre. Descubr\u00ed que estos se formaron primero en los inicios del universo, por la primera generaci\u00f3n de estrellas.
