Eta Carinae ha sufrido m\u00faltiples episodios eruptivos, algunos de los cuales han sido observados desde la Tierra, y su futuro, como nos dice Rafael Bachiller, se prev\u00e9 violento, pudiendo llegar a explotar como una supernova o como una hipernova para formar un <a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('agujero negro',event); return false;\">agujero negro<\/a>. distancia a la que se produjera la explosi\u00f3n y de la energ\u00eda liberada en la misma. En este sentido, una explosi\u00f3n de Eta Carinae en forma de supernova que no fuera acompa\u00f1ada de una explosi\u00f3n de <a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('gamma rayos',event); return false;\">rayos gamma<\/a> no tendr\u00eda una repercusi\u00f3n negativa en la Tierra ya que se estima que un fen\u00f3meno semejante deber\u00eda tener lugar a una distancia de hasta unas cuantas decenas de a\u00f1os-luz para resultar en un p\u00e9rdida de ozono que propiciara un\u00a0aumento significativo en el flujo de radiaci\u00f3n ultravioleta en la superficie de la Tierra de forma que fuera suficiente para aniquilar numerosas especies y para influir en el desarrollo evolutivo de otras muchas. Sin embargo, en el caso de acabar sus d\u00edas como supernova con una explosi\u00f3n asociada de <a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('gamma rayos',event); return false;\">rayos gamma<\/a>, esta radiaci\u00f3n, incluso a pesar de ser emitida a 7500 a\u00f1os-luz, s\u00ed que tendr\u00eda efectos notables en la Tierra de ser alcanzada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/640x0\/https:\/\/vicentehdez.files.wordpress.com\/2017\/01\/wp-1483492187680.jpg\" alt=\"Resultado de imagen de Energ\u00c3\u00ada liberada por por hipernova\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Se estima que una explosi\u00f3n de <a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('gamma rayos',event); return false;\">rayos gamma<\/a> a menos de 10000 a\u00f1os-luz ya tendr\u00eda, de hecho, efectos perjudiciales para la biosfera; pero una explosi\u00f3n a aproximadamente 6500 a\u00f1os-luz de distancia (casi el 87 % de la distancia que nos separa de Eta Carinae) tendr\u00eda, sin embargo, efectos devastadores en nuestro planeta pues se piensa que a esa distancia podr\u00eda hacer desaparecer hasta la mitad de la capa de ozono.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En nuestra Galaxia se conocen unas pocas estrellas masivas cuyo final podr\u00eda resultar en una explosi\u00f3n de <a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('gamma rayos',event); return false;\">rayos gamma<\/a>, y Eta Carinae no es solo una de ellas sino que es, adem\u00e1s, la m\u00e1s cercana conocida. Es extremadamente dif\u00edcil especificar cu\u00e1ndo podr\u00eda darse la muerte de Eta Carinae y si se dar\u00e1 o no con una explosi\u00f3n de <a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('gamma rayos',event); return false;\">rayos gamma<\/a>. Se sospecha, sin embargo, que su fin tendr\u00e1 lugar\u00a0<em>pronto<\/em>, tal vez en bastante menos tiempo que un mill\u00f3n de a\u00f1os. De morir en un proceso que desencadenase una explosi\u00f3n de <a href=\"#\" onclick=\"referencia('gamma rayos',event); return false;\">rayos gamma<\/a>, \u00bfestar\u00edamos avocados a una cat\u00e1strofe en la Tierra? Afortunadamente, se sabe que el eje polar de Eta Carinae no apunta a nuestro sistema solar, sino que lo hace a una distancia angular de entre 47 y 67 grados de nosotros, por lo que, en principio, la Tierra no estar\u00eda bajo peligro.
